Piet-Design

Someone has come into my life who has been able to manufacture a lot with cardboard. Whether it is buildings, people, animals, plants, almost everything Piet carries out in cardboard and she has been doing that for many years. With admiration I even looked at the house (as a cardboard dollhouse) of the famous Dutch painter Rembrandt van Rijn from the Golden Age. Objects can tell a special story and I think it's nice to see how Piet came to her story with her research.

About the name Piet:

Piet is of course also the name of my puppet and also the puppet Piet has a story for me. But this story extends to the history of thousands of years. Piet also got a dog from me and that dog is called camel dog.

Historical awareness can not be imposed, but it can grow slowly.

If you are surrounded by objects with a story, if culture and history are constantly present, they become automatically accessible, understandable and a part of existence.

I hope everyone will enjoy my designs.

I hope that they contribute to the knowledge of our cultural past and the understanding of our civilization.

Traditional Dutch dish is a herring sandwich

Herring has been popular in the Netherlands for centuries: just at the tail, or on a sandwich, with some chopped onion. Herring is not only tasty and healthy, it also has meant a great deal in the past for the economic prosperity of the Netherlands. The large fleet and the knowledge of sailors needed for fishing were also used during trade expeditions and voyages of discovery. Thanks in part to the herring, Holland had a "Golden Age"

3-dimensional old-Dutch tiles. Play cube On the cubes are Dutch tiles from the early 17th century. These multicolored tiles were made a lot in the Netherlands when the well-known blue / white Delft tiles did not yet exist. The production technique, in which only four colors were used, was taken over from Southern Europe. Their inspiration for the tiles was also taken by the tile painters from the south: pomegranates, bunches of grapes and exotic animals. Later they were inspired by their own environment and used tulips and the Dutch Lion. The 4-in-1 cube has 24 tiles; only when four tiles are put next to each other does the complete regular pattern appear.

 DOLLSHOUSE - Rembrandt

This is the house of Rembrandt van Rijn, one of the most famous Dutch painters. Rembrandt was born in Leiden in 1006, but left for Amsterdam in 1631 where he painted his most famous works. The Rembrandt Doll House provides a truthful picture of the environment of the artist, but through the simplification of the structure can be played well and is also in the tradition of 17th century showman houses. The house is easy to put together. No scissors or glue are required, all parts are pre-punched.
